Little Greek

Little Greek Taverna is amazing, everytime. Picture walking around West End on a hot Sunday afternoon quite late after lunch, when many cafe's and restaurants are closing between shifts, yet the corner of Boundary & Browning Street is welcoming you with delicious smells. Staff will let you choose indoor or outdoor seating but it makes no difference really as it's a breezy open restaurant. It's almost impossible to make a quick choice from a menu bursting with so many Greek favourites, but the lovely staff are happy to help you by recommending favourites of their own. This time I chose the Char grilled Calamari with Greek (of course) Salad and my lunch partner had the Char grilled Octopus & Salad. Nicely grilled fresh calamari with the right amount of chewiness and texture and the chunky cucumber and tomato salad with that simple greek dressing was all it needed. One of the waitresses checked in if we enjoyed our meals and offered us some pita bread for the table, I am never one to say no to carbs. It did balance our meal and possibly was the cause of filling me up before I could finish all my calamari. I recall the last time I ate there, I ordered the stuffed mushroom.. I still remember how amazing it was. A large field mushroom almost the size of the side plate it came on, chargrilled with tomato & feta sprinkled on top and a splash of olive oil. This is a must-try. I can't accurately remember other meals I've tried but looking over their menu, I want to try & re-try them all. I've always had a great experience at Little Greek, I believe it's a mix of delicious fresh food, attentive service and the right atmosphere for what type of eatery it is. I would define it as relaxed yet social.
